Concrete That's Poured Right and Built to Hold Up
Not every project calls for asphalt. Sidewalks, patios, building pads, steps, and curbing all require concrete. Some homeowners prefer a concrete driveway for the longer lifespan and lower maintenance it offers over time. We handle both materials so you can get the right solution for the job without hiring a second contractor.
Brooks Brothers Driveways provides concrete services for residential and commercial properties across Northern and Central Indiana. We pour driveways, sidewalks, patios, garage pads, equipment slabs, curb and gutter, steps, and flatwork of all types. The same crew that handles your asphalt project can handle the concrete work that goes with it. One team, one schedule, one company standing behind all of it.
A properly installed concrete surface can last 30 years or more with basic maintenance. That lifespan depends on the quality of the subgrade preparation, the mix design, proper curing, and the right joint placement to control cracking. We get these details right because we understand what’s happening underneath the surface, not just on top of it.

Signs Your Need Concrete Work
Cracked or Heaving Sidewalks
Concrete sidewalks shift over time as the ground underneath settles or tree roots push upward. Cracked, uneven sidewalks are trip hazards for your family, visitors, and mail carriers. Replacement sections can be poured to match the existing walk without redoing the entire run.
Crumbling or Spalling Concrete Steps
Front steps, side entry steps, and garage steps take heavy foot traffic and direct weather exposure. Over time, the surface layer chips away (called spalling), leaving rough, uneven surfaces. Replacing damaged steps restores both safety and appearance.
Missing or
Broken Curbing
Curb and gutter sections that have cracked, shifted, or broken away don’t contain water or traffic the way they should. For commercial lots and municipal projects, damaged curbing affects drainage, ADA compliance, and the finished look of the property.
Your Patio or Pad Has
Settled Unevenly
A patio slab or equipment pad that has tilted or sunk creates drainage problems and an unstable surface. If the ground underneath has eroded or wasn’t compacted properly at installation, the slab may need to be removed and repoured on a corrected base.
You Need a Pad for
New Construction
Garage floors, shed foundations, HVAC equipment pads, generator pads, and hot tub bases all require a properly poured concrete slab. The pad has to be the right thickness, on the right base, with the correct finish for its intended use.
You're Choosing Between Concrete and Asphalt
If you’re deciding between a concrete driveway and an asphalt driveway, we can walk you through the differences. Concrete costs more upfront but lasts longer with less maintenance. Asphalt costs less to install and handles Central and Northern Indiana’s freeze-thaw cycles more flexibly. We install both and will help you pick what makes sense for your property.
Concrete Services We Provide
Concrete
Driveways
New installation and full replacement. We prepare the subgrade, set forms, pour and finish the surface, and cut control joints to manage cracking. Concrete driveways are a strong choice for homeowners who want a surface that can last 30+ years with minimal upkeep.
Sidewalks, Patios, and Flatwork
Front walks, backyard patios, pool surrounds, and any flat concrete surface. We match existing finishes where possible and handle both broom-finish and stamped concrete options. Section replacements are available for walks and patios that only need partial work.
Pads and Slabs
Garage floors, shed foundations, equipment pads, barn pads, RV pads, and utility slabs. Every pad is poured on a properly compacted base at the thickness required for its use. We reinforce with rebar or wire mesh depending on the expected load.
Curbing, Steps, and Repair
Curb and gutter for parking lots and roadways. Front entry steps, side steps, and basement access steps. Concrete repair and section replacement for surfaces where the damage is localized and a full tear-out isn’t necessary.
Why Property Owners Choose Concrete
Longest Lifespan of Any Paving Material
A properly installed concrete driveway or slab can last 30 to 50 years. That’s roughly double the lifespan of asphalt. For property owners who want to install it once and not think about it for decades, concrete is the right choice.
Low Maintenance Over Time
Concrete doesn’t require sealcoating every few years the way asphalt does. Occasional cleaning and resealing every 5 to 7 years keeps the surface in good shape. There’s no annual maintenance cycle to keep up with.
Handles Heavy Loads
Concrete has higher compressive strength than asphalt, making it better suited for areas that support heavy equipment, full dumpsters, delivery trucks, or RVs parked in the same spot for extended periods. It won’t soften in summer heat or develop tire ruts the way asphalt can under Northern Indiana’s temperature swings.
More Finish Options
Concrete can be broom-finished for a standard look, stamped for a decorative appearance, or colored to complement your home or building. Asphalt is limited to a single dark surface. If aesthetics matter for your project, concrete gives you more to work with.
One Contractor for Concrete and Asphalt
Many projects involve both materials. A concrete apron at the street, an asphalt driveway behind it, and a concrete sidewalk along the side. We handle all of it so you don’t have to coordinate between separate contractors with separate schedules.
What a Concrete Project Looks Like
Concrete projects follow a process similar to our asphalt work in one important way: everything starts with the ground. Levi visits your property, evaluates the site, and determines the right approach for your specific project. If existing concrete needs to be removed, we handle demolition and hauling as part of the job.
The crew excavates to the required depth, grades and compacts the subgrade, and installs the aggregate base. We set forms to define the shape and edges, place reinforcement (rebar or wire mesh depending on the application), and pour the concrete to the specified thickness. The surface is finished to the selected texture, control joints are cut to manage cracking, and the slab is protected during curing.
We schedule concrete work when weather conditions are right. Concrete needs consistent temperatures above 50°F for proper curing, and we avoid pouring during rain or extreme heat. Your finished project is backed by our one-year warranty and 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Tips & Advice for Northern Indiana Property Owners
Concrete Questions
Should I choose concrete or asphalt for my driveway?
It depends on your priorities. Concrete costs more upfront but lasts longer (30 to 50 years) with less maintenance. Asphalt costs less to install (15 to 30 year lifespan) and handles freeze-thaw cycles more flexibly. We install both and can help you decide based on your budget, property, and goals.
How long does a concrete driveway last?
With proper installation and basic maintenance, a concrete driveway typically lasts 30 to 50 years. The key factors are subgrade preparation, correct mix design, proper joint placement, and avoiding harsh chemical deicers.
Do you offer stamped or decorative concrete?
Yes. We offer stamped concrete for patios, walkways, and driveways. We also provide colored concrete and various finish options. Let us know what look you’re going for and we’ll walk you through what’s available.
Can you replace just one section of a sidewalk or patio?
In most cases, yes. If the damage is limited to one or two sections and the rest is in good shape, we can saw-cut and remove the bad sections and pour new concrete to match. This is more cost-effective than replacing the entire surface.
How much does concrete work cost?
Cost depends on the type of work, the size of the area, how much site prep is needed, and the finish you choose. We provide a written estimate after a site visit. Call (574) 377-1971 for a free estimate.
